My first baby cardigan

When my sister gave birth to my latest nephew 5 weeks early, just before Christmas, she was advised he should wear a cardigan/ jumper to keep his temperature at the correct levels. So I searched online and found a basic pattern to make a little cardigan suitable for premature babies. During a trip to Lancaster I bought some lovely soft yarn and star shaped buttons. I started by making the back of the cardigan which was quite easy to do. It's made completely from 11 rows of trebles and measures 6 inches using my trusty 4mm tulip hook and a yummy ball of Stylecraft wondersoft.

The front side pieces are made using v stitch and are very simple to whip up. Then you make the 2 sleeves and add cuffs. The worst bit for me was the sewing together, but I have enjoyed making this so much, as I’ve not really completed any garments before other than scarves or shawls. I have already found a pattern for a version suitable for 0-3 months and have enough yarn left to make it. All I need now is a few more buttons, what's more, the good news for me is that this pattern has less sewing together! I can‘t wait to give it a go! (Although Anthony has suggested that I should have a try at a knitted one. However when I do try a knitted version, it will be made using a different yarn as the yarn quantity I have remaining is just right for the crochet one I'm planning.)
Next however I am going to attempt a cute little unicorn 🦄 inbetween my Sophie‘s Universe and work.
Very excited to get started! Busy year already making and it’s only January the 5th... 😍
